In early 2004, BCI was commissioned by the A. Colarusso Group of Companies to study the feasibility of, complete the planning of, and ultimately design and construct a new corporate office facility for this diversified enterprise. In addition to being one of the Hudson Valley’s most prominent heavy/highway contractors, A. Colarusso & Son, Inc. is a leader in the supply of construction aggregates, sand, gravel, concrete and paving materials.
Situated on over 1,000 acres of property since the early 1900s, with the continual operation of quarry activities such as mining, crushing, sand, gravel, concrete and asphalt production, it was the desire of this owner to have their newly constructed corporate offices placed exactly where their existing corporate offices were. Furthermore, it was their desire to have this process take place during their very busy summer season. BCI completed the design of this state-of-the-art facility in less than four months, moved the Colarusso business into five temporary modular buildings on site and temporarily relocated miles of telecommunications and fiber-optic cable running to and from different production areas of the plant.
In May of 2004, demolition of the existing office facility commenced and in December of 2004 as the busy construction season was winding down, the Colarusso family moved into their newly constructed, state-of-the-art facility. The end result is a brand new aesthetically pleasing and well-designed facility which houses all of the company’s resources conveniently under one roof.
